Born on 24 April 2002 and raised on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Olivia Gadecki began playing tennis at three after being encouraged by her four brothers. She developed through Tennis Queensland and Tennis Australia pathways, represented Australia at the 2014 Longines Future Tennis Aces event in Paris, won the 14-and-under Australian Championships in 2016 and was part of Australia’s 2017 Junior Fed Cup team. She later undertook a European junior tour, including a final at the 2018 Torneo Internazionale Junior in Italy.

Gadecki plays right-handed and has been described by Tennis Australia as an attacking player whose game is supported by a big serve and forehand. Her early senior breakthrough came in February 2021, when an unranked wildcard defeated then-world No. 4 Sofia Kenin at the Melbourne Summer Series. She won her first professional ITF singles title in Antalya, Türkiye, in May 2021 and made her Billie Jean King Cup debut at the 2021 Finals in Prague.

She reached the top 200 in 2022 and made her Australian Open main-draw debut in 2023. At that tournament she won her first Grand Slam singles match and reached the mixed doubles semifinals with Marc Polmans. She also qualified for the US Open later that year and won her first WTA 125 doubles title at the Golden Gate Open with Jodie Burrage.

Gadecki’s major singles breakthrough arrived in 2024. She qualified for Wimbledon, won the ATX Open doubles title with Olivia Nicholls and progressed from qualifying to her first WTA singles final at the Guadalajara Open. That run included wins over Sloane Stephens, Danielle Collins and Martina Trevisan. The result moved her into the world’s top 100 and made her Australia’s No. 1-ranked woman in singles in September 2024. She was nominated for the 2024 Newcombe Medal and made her Olympic debut at Paris 2024 in singles and doubles, partnering Ajla Tomljanovic.

In 2025, Gadecki won the Australian Open mixed doubles title with John Peers and reached the Wimbledon women’s doubles semifinals with Desirae Krawczyk. Gadecki and Peers successfully defended their Australian Open mixed doubles title in 2026, becoming the first pair to win the event in consecutive years since 1989. Her latest verified professional context is therefore as a Grand Slam mixed doubles champion and established WTA-level singles and doubles competitor.
