Born in Perth on 9 August 1996, Curtis John Luck developed through Western Australian and Australian amateur golf before becoming one of the leading amateurs in the world. He represented Western Australia and Australia, won the Western Australian Open as an amateur in 2016, and achieved a rare major championship double by winning the U.S. Amateur and Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in the same year. Luck reached world No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in March 2017 and turned professional later that year. He is a right-handed golfer whose professional career has moved between the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. His most significant professional victory came at the 2020 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. After a period affected by injuries, he returned to prominence in Australia with a runner-up finish at the 2024 ISPS HANDA Australian Open, which secured qualification for The Open Championship at Royal Portrush in 2025. Luck’s first major international breakthrough came in 2016, when he won the U.S. Amateur Championship at Oakland Hills. In the same year he won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the Western Australian Open, and helped Australia win the Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team championship. The U.S. Amateur victory secured invitations to the 2017 Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship.

Winning the 2016 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in the same season, giving him two routes into the 2017 Masters. Helping Australia win the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy by 19 strokes over England. Making the halfway cut at the 2017 Masters, where he finished tied 46th. Winning the 2020 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. Finishing runner-up at the 2024 ISPS HANDA Australian Open, earning a place in the 2025 Open Championship.
