Curtis Mead held hitless as Athletics rout Nationals

Curtis Mead was the only Australian listed in Washington’s 15-1 MLB loss to Oakland at Sutter Health Park. Mead played and made two at-bats, but went hitless, scored no runs and recorded no runs batted in. He struck out twice and left three runners on base. The Nationals’ team result was decided early: Oakland led 5-0 after the first inning, added another run in the second and extended the margin with two runs in the sixth, six in the seventh and one in the eighth. Washington’s only run came in the ninth inning. Mead entered the game with supplied season figures of a .255 batting average, .345 on-base percentage and .513 slugging percentage, but did not add to those offensive totals in this contest.
