Curtis Mead homers as Yankees rally past Nationals

Curtis Mead provided Washington’s main offensive spark in the Nationals’ 4–2 loss to the New York Yankees at Nationals Park. The Australian went 2-for-3 with a home run, one run, one RBI and a walk, finishing with five total bases from four plate appearances. He also recorded one assist and 10 putouts in the field without an error. Washington scored both of its runs in the first inning, but the Yankees answered with four runs in the eighth to secure the win. Mead was the only Australian player supplied for the game and he recorded an appearance.
