Curtis Mead powers Nationals to one-run MLB win

Curtis Mead made a major contribution as the Washington Nationals edged the Houston Astros 12–11 at Nationals Park. Batting five times, the Australian recorded three hits, including a double and a home run, scored twice and drove in three runs. He also made two assists and two putouts without an error. Washington recovered from a three-run second inning by Houston with a five-run third and a decisive six-run fifth. The Astros threatened late with four runs in the eighth, but the Nationals held on for the victory. Mead finished with seven total bases and was one of Washington’s key contributors in the high-scoring contest.
