Martin Boyle involved as Hibernian fall 3-2 to Gent
Martin Boyle started as Hibernian captain and played 76 minutes in a 3-2 home defeat to Gent in the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff round. The forward recorded one shot, which was on target, and created one key pass, while completing 11 of 12 passes and winning two of seven duels. Boyle appeared to have put Hibernian ahead shortly after half-time, but the goal was cancelled following a VAR review. Hibernian then overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit through goals from J. Kerr and F. Passlack, only for Gent to equalise through Christian Burgess and regain the lead via a late own goal. Hibernian had 44 per cent possession and matched Gent’s 13 total shots, but the match ended in added-time disorder when Miguel Changa Chaiwa was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Boyle was substituted in the 76th minute, with Hibernian unable to find another equaliser at Easter Road.
