Vukic falls in three-set Montreal battle

Australian Aleksandar Vukic was beaten by Germany’s Daniel Altmaier in the opening round of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Montreal. Vukic took a tight first set 7-6(2), but Altmaier levelled the match by winning the second-set tiebreak 7-6(5). Altmaier then secured the deciding set 6-4 to complete a 2-1 victory. Vukic’s match lasted 2 hours and 59 minutes, leaving him with one set won and two lost. No other Australian player was supplied for this event.
