Alex de Minaur defeated fellow Australian Cruz Hewitt 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16 at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington. De Minaur won both sets and completed the match in 1:00:32, progressing with a 2-0 victory. Hewitt lost in straight sets, winning neither of the two sets played.
