Andrew Dodt was born on 26 January 1986 in Queensland, Australia. Provider data lists Brisbane as his birthplace, while several golf profiles and Dodt’s own biography identify Gatton, west of Brisbane, as his hometown and early golfing base. He began playing golf at about four years of age at Gatton Jubilee Golf Club and progressed through Queensland’s junior and amateur pathways, including Golf Australia’s national squad system. His major amateur breakthrough came in 2007 when he won the Australian Amateur Stroke Play, after which he turned professional. Dodt built his career across the PGA Tour of Australasia, Asian Tour, European Tour and selected PGA TOUR events. His first major professional victory came at the 2010 Avantha Masters in India, co-sanctioned by the European and Asian tours. He later won the 2014 Queensland Open, the 2015 True Thailand Classic and the 2019 Sarawak Championship. Dodt’s defining international performances included a tie for second at the 2010 New Zealand Open, a tie for third at the 2017 UBS Hong Kong Open, a tie for fourth at the 2017 Scottish Open and a tie for sixth at the 2017 BMW PGA Championship. He qualified for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 2017 and finished tied 44th. A notable record came at the 2013 Nordea Masters, where he became the first player in European Tour history to make two holes-in-one in one round. His publicly described lowest professional round is 61, recorded during the 2019 NSW Open. Dodt is now associated with golf coaching in the Newcastle region and is listed by the provider as inactive as a professional tournament player.
