John Stephens

John Michael Stephens is a former Australian right-handed baseball pitcher from Sydney. Born in Sydney on 15 November 1979, John Stephens attended Parramatta Marist High School and developed as a right-handed pitcher in Australia before signing with the Baltimore Orioles as a non-drafted free agent in July 1996. He progressed through the Orioles' minor-league system and had his breakthrough in 2001 with the Bowie Baysox, winning Eastern League Pitcher of the Year and earning post-season All-Star recognition. He was selected for the 2002 Futures Game while pitching for Rochester and made his MLB debut for Baltimore on 30 July 2002. Stephens appeared in 12 MLB games, including 11 starts, recording a 2–5 record, a 6.09 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 65 innings.
