Born in Attadale, Perth, Western Australia, Peter Moylan developed through Western Australian baseball, representing South Perth and the Perth Heat before signing with the Minnesota Twins as a teenager. After being released by Minnesota and undergoing back operations in 2001 and 2003, he returned to Australian baseball while working in pharmaceutical sales. He played for Victorian club baseball and also appeared in Taiwan before reinventing himself as a sidearm relief pitcher.
